Jasa Sarjana and Riken Technos partnership introduces new antiviral window film from Japan

Ground-breaking new technology brings antimicrobial technology to bear on the post-pandemic new normal

Kuala Lumpur, 21 Sept 2020 – Jasa Sarjana Sdn Bhd (“Jasa Sarjana”), the sole distributor of Japanese premium car window film brand, ICE-μ, announced the launch of the revolutionary ICE-μ Rikeguard, the world’s first antimicrobial solar and security window film.

This is Jasa Sarjana’s first new breakthrough product for the post-pandemic new normal after the acquisition of ICE-μ by Riken Technos Corporation of Japan (“Riken Technos”). Both Jasa Sarjana and Riken Technos collaborated to introduce this new protective window film, which is adapted from Rikeguard antimicrobial film already in wide use in Japan.

It uses a proprietary antiviral agent that attracts viruses and bacteria which are negatively charged. The positively charged antiviral agent reacts with moisture in the air to generate active oxygen. Then, the high oxidising power of the active oxygen disintegrates the protective casing of the microbes. Viruses and bacteria are neutralised in this process, rendering them vulnerable and inactive.

Rikeguard by Riken Technos was tested and officially certified by Society of International Sustaining Growth for Antimicrobial Articles (SIAA), a Japanese organisation specialising in manufacturing and testing antiviral and antibacterial agents. SIAA has certified that Rikeguard possesses 99.99% effectiveness against viruses and bacteria, which is 100 times more effective than SIAA requires, meeting the highest international standards.

These credentials qualified Rikeguard for use in two major Japanese companies. Coca-Cola Japan has applied Rivex Rikeguard, the clear version of the antimicrobial film, to over 30,000 of their vending machines. A major Japanese rail company has also applied Rivex Rikeguard to their main consumer touchpoints such as their ticket machines, customer service sections, touch screen monitors, tablet devices, and information display screens. In both cases, Rikeguard was applied to high-traffic touchpoints involving extensive physical contact, safeguarding the wellbeing of users.

Rivex Rikeguard antimicrobial clear films will be available in Malaysia from early October 2020, while ICE-μ Rikeguard, the world’s first antimicrobial solar and security films, will be available in December 2020 from official distributor Jasa Sarjana Sdn Bhd, with an installation cost starting from RM4,000 for passenger vehicles.

David Lee, CEO of Jasa Sarjana Sdn Bhd, shared the company’s future plans for new collaborations and a fresh strategic growth plan. It will be driven by Riken Technos’ diversified technological innovations and manufacturing track record, and Jasa Sarjana’s knowledge of the local automotive industry experience and network, bringing higher functionality and innovative window film products to Malaysia in the future.

He also elaborated on how Riken Technos acquired ICE-μ from Konica Minolta to combine Konica Minolta’s history in optical technology products with their own 60-plus years of expertise and technology in consumer plastics manufacturing, one of their core global business focuses.

Lee added further, “As the authorised provider of ICE-μ in Malaysia since 2013, we have gained sound product knowledge from working with Konica Minolta, which we truly appreciate.

“As we enter an exciting new phase for the brand, we look forward to working closely with Riken Technos, which prides itself on being a technology-driven company dedicated to embracing ‘Monozukuri,’ the Japanese spirit of manufacturing excellence, and a challenger mindset.”

Lee reasserted the top quality of ICE-μ, stressing that they are manufactured in Japan and perform as claimed for years, as the warranties promise. ICE-μ products are JIS-certified by the Japan Quality Assurance Organisation (JQA), which is an internationally recognised accreditation body from the Japan Accreditation Board (JAB).

The key features of ICE-μ window films include greater comfort from Wavelength Control Technology (filters UV/IR, allows visible light), outstanding best-of-class clarity from Precision Coating Technology (no distortion of light rays), superior safety (shatterproof film holds broken windows in place), environmentally-friendly qualities (reduces energy consumption by blocking heat), and no signal interference (no interference of radio signals).
